An accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, Gabriella is also a Language Ambassador for the UK Government and you will occasionally see her featured in the national and international press, campaigning for an increase in foreign language learning, as well as a columnist herself. She is passionate about global communication, culture, the arts and travelling.

In the arts world, Gabriella has worked with the BBC as well as galleries across the globe to promote contemporary artists, including the Karen 19 Gallery in Sydney, Australia, Britain’s National Portrait Gallery, the Tate, Britain’s Royal College of Art, the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, London and the Louvre in Paris.

In the world of journalism Gabriella is an international writer and photographer: in the UK press, her publications can be found in papers such as the Western Daily[1], West Country Life, the Gloucestershire Daily, London’s Hampstead and Highgate Express as well as charity organisations such as Parkinsons (UK) and Parkinsons Dot Org (USA). Online, Gabriella has had work published by the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool.com and the USA’s Southern Arts Digest[2]. Gabriella initially developed her passion for journalism as an arts and culture reporter working at the Weardale Gazette in Northern England and her success soon grew to the national and international level it is today. Gabriella also blogs for Multilingual Books in Seattle, Washington and has provided PR, branding and marketing support to the company, now ranked 8th in the world. Gabriella also films and broadcasts for their partner company Multilingual Travel.

In the world of language, Gabriella was brought up bilingually in Dutch and English and travelled Europe from a young age, spending most of her summers in Holland and Luxemburg travel-writing, often creatively inspired by her Dutch grandfather, an artist from Amsterdam who was fluent in Russian and German. Gabriella went on to master French, German, Linguistics and History of Art at the University of Durham in the UK and landed a wide-ranging career in international marketing management, journalism and interpreting. Gabriella also enjoys the challenges of foreign PR projects and her fluency in five European languages has allowed her to undertake work in public sector government, the private sector as well as work overseas in several countries. Some of Gabriella’s most prominent clients have included the Oxford English Dictionary, where she worked, produced and edited a section of the dictionary’s phonetic lexicon, as well as the University of Sydney.

Gabriella is also a keen travel photographer and has exhibited her work abroad: she soon plans to launch her own online gallery to display some of her work. Gabriella also enjoys broadcasting to the world via online radio and likes to explore music from every continent. Languages and multi-culturalism have shaped her life.

Today, Gabriella is the Founder and Managing Director of Interpreters Island, a global language consultancy company specialising in foreign language support to businesses small, medium and large, such as multinational corporations, schools and individuals alike. The core service of this business is multilingual communications and linguistic support. The company’s USP is its ability to successfully infiltrate European markets from any country in the world using a more ‘local’ approach.
